Leeds star Joel Piroe reacts to confirmed exit news – ‘It was a pleasure’

Joel Piroe has reacted to the news about a departure ahead of Leeds United’s final Championship game of the season.

Leeds will lock horns with Plymouth Argyle away from home in their last game of the season on Saturday, 3 May.

Although the Whites will be comparatively relaxed, having already sealed automatic promotion, they will be determined to pick up all three points and clinch the title.

Daniel Farke is, therefore, expected to name a strong starting line-up at Home Park, with Piroe leading the line for the West Yorkshire outfit again.

However, the Dutchman has turned his attention towards another Championship club ahead of the season finale.

Piroe reacts to Joe Allen exit news at Swansea

Swansea have confirmed that their home game against Oxford United on Saturday will be Joe Allen’s final outing for the club.

The Welsh great has decided to hang up his boots after turning 35 in March, thus ending his career with the Swans just as he started it with them.

Piroe was among those who instantly reacted to Allen’s retirement, taking to social media to pen a heartfelt message to the midfielder.

“Legend! It was a pleasure to share the pitch with you”, Piroe wrote in an Instagram story (2 May) along with a fire emoji.

Piroe knows Allen closely, having shared the pitch with the 35-year-old during his two-year spell at Swansea before joining Leeds.

The two played a total of 26 games together for the Welsh outfit, combining to find the back of the net on two occasions.

Leeds could bid adieu to five players

Meanwhile, Leeds could bid adieu to five of their players after the game against Plymouth.

Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon are due to return to their respective clubs when their loan deals expire, while Josuha Guilavogui’s short-term contract is also set to run out.

Junior Firpo and Sam Byram could also be heading towards the exit door at Elland Road, as they near the end of their contracts.

Leeds, though, could still tie Firpo down to a new deal, while there is interest in bringing Solomon back on a permanent deal.
