Leeds star ‘delighted’ at Elland Road despite reported interest from Champions League club
Leeds United forward Rodrigo has admitted he is “delighted” to be at Elland Road midway through his first season with the club.
The club-record signing has already been linked with a move away from West Yorkshire, as he starts to cement his spot under Marcelo Bielsa.
TuttoNapoli recently reported that Champions League side Atletico Madrid had shortlisted the Spaniard as they look to replace Diego Costa – something that can now be firmly shut down.
Speaking to Marca on Saturday, Rodrigo admitted that he feels like he belongs with the Whites who have great scope to progress in the Premier League.
“I am delighted with Leeds,” he said.
“This project makes you feel like you belong to a big club, with great room for growth. We have everything it takes to perform.”
This is exactly what we wanted to hear.
After a slow start to life in the Premier League, Rodrigo has really burst on the scene and started to impress in recent months for Bielsa.
Understandably, it took time – the 29-year-old was playing out of position behind Patrick Bamford at first, but he is finally adjusting to that role.
Rodrigo really started to come to life over the Christmas break – having eight touches in the box against Newcastle, scoring two and assisting nine chances in his past five games according to WyScout.
Atletico Madrid may have shortlisted the Spaniard as he knows La Liga, but they will have to look elsewhere as Rodrigo is clearly going nowhere.
