Leeds star could end up jetting out of UK after Wednesday update – report
Leeds United could be forced into a decision on whether to send Jean-Kevin Augustin back to Germany if his injury will see him sidelined for over six weeks, according to LeedsLive.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on Wednesday that Augustin, 22, had suffered a hamstring injury ahead of Leeds resuming their Championship season next week.
Augustin missed a few matches before lockdown due to a hamstring issue and it seems that the on-loan RB Leipzig forward has suffered a recurrence of the same injury.
Augustin’s situation is still being assessed but LeedsLive have reported that if it’s deemed he’ll be out of action for six weeks, he may return to Leipzig or head home to France.
If Leeds win promotion to the Premier League then they are obliged to sign Augustin permanently from Leipzig.
It remains to be seen how his injury issues will play a role but there is every chance that the Whites will have to fork out a huge sum of money on an injury-prone striker who’s failed to start a single game for them.
That would be the last thing Andrea Radrizzani would want in a time of great financial uncertainty in football thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
