Leeds United are set to offer a “major new contract” to Stuart Dallas which could see his wages double to at least £40,000-a-week, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The Northern Irish newspaper reports that “rival clubs” are monitoring Dallas’ situation at Elland Road with the 30-year-old setting the Premier League alight with his performances this season.
Dallas has scored seven goals and supplied two assists in 33 league appearances since helping the Whites win promotion last term.
While the interest isn’t a surprise, the Belfast Telegraph adds some uplifting news in that the Northern Ireland international is “loving life at Elland Road under manager Marcelo Bielsa”.
It seems that once a new deal is offered, he’s likely to accept.
If Leeds are going to do one thing this summer, getting Dallas tied down to a brand new contract is something that should be near the top of Victor Orta’s to-do list.
Dallas has been phenomenal in the Premier League, playing in a multitude of different positions and excelling in all of them.
He’s scoring goals, creating them, working tirelessly, helping win possession and, most of all, turning himself into a modern-day legend at Elland Road.
Dallas sums up everything about Bielsa.
He grafts, he’s versatile and he’s improved by leaps and bounds.
Who would have thought a few years ago that we’d be mid-table in the Premier League with Dallas a major contender to win our player of the season award?
We didn’t think that and we doubt anyone else did.
Dallas has been wonderful and he really does deserve a big pay rise.
Not only to keep other clubs at bay but also because he’s done well enough to be on a big wage.
In other Leeds United news, this rising star at Thorp Arch has also shared big contract news.
