Leeds set for busy deadline day
The summer transfer window slammed shut for Leeds incomings last month but Leagues One and Two and the European leagues have until later on Monday to complete their business.
That’s meant a busy day at Elland Road, which was tipped by Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
He said that four players – Laurens De Bock, Conor Shaughnessy, Vurnon Anita and Ouasim Bouy – were all likely to leave before the end of the day.
He added that Anita and Bouy would probably leave even if no clubs came in for them today, and that if that was the case, Leeds would buy them out of their contracts.
Anita is out of contract next summer while Bouy has two years left on his current deal at Elland Road. Bouy never made an appearance for Leeds since his arrival from Juventus in the summer of 2017.
Likely to see a handful of outgoings from Elland Road before today's transfer deadlines – De Bock, Shaughnessy, Anita, Bouy. @TheAthleticUK

Anita and Bouy might have to be paid off. Depends on what happens with them today. Anita only has 12 months left. Bouy still has two more years.

Following on from that news, Hay stated that De Bock was heading to Sunderland on a season-long loan, before Leeds journalist Beren Cross claimed that Shaughnessy had moved to Mansfield on a season-long loan with a break clause in January on both sides.

With just a few hours to go before the summer window shuts, there have been no takers yet for either Anita or Bouy and the club may have to come to a compromise with the players to terminate their contracts.
As free agents they should find it easier to find a new club and will still be able to move after the transfer deadlines have passed.
