Leeds senior centre-mid ruled out for rest of the season – Phil Hay

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw will miss the rest of the season with his hip injury, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.

Forshaw, 28, has not played a match for the Whites since September 28 due to an injury that now requires surgery.

Hay reported via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning that Forshaw will undergo an operation in Colorado on Thursday, meaning that his season is over.

Forshaw started the season ever so well for Leeds, which is amazing considering he had been carrying his hip injury since the pre-season match against Cagliari.

However questions are now bound to be asked about United’s medical team and why Forshaw was not sent to have surgery a lot sooner than now.

Leeds have really missed Forshaw in recent weeks with Marcelo Bielsa not having enough players to feature in the centre of his midfield.

Had Forshaw been available, the Whites might not be on the verge of dropping out of the Championship’s automatic promotion spots.

A lot has been said about Forshaw’s injury woes this season and unfortunately, the story regarding the midfielder’s fitness does not have a happy ending.

Leeds are going to have to power on and try to win promotion without him now and that also raises a question about why no efforts were made to sign a new central midfielder in the January transfer window when this issue was probably known about.
