Leeds send representatives to Austria for Brenden Aaronson talks
Leeds United have sent representatives to Austria for further talks with RB Salzburg for Brenden Aaronson, according to Tom Bogert.
The American freelance writer, who works for the likes of Guardian and Four Four Two claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday (20 January) evening that the Elland Road outfit continue to push for a deal now for the 21-year-old midfielder despite Salzburg wanting to hold out for summer.
The Whites have already had a £15million bid knocked back, but they are resolute to land Aaronson and their reps have jetted into Austria in a bid to thrash out a deal.
Bogert said: “Representatives from Leeds United are in Austria for further talks with RB Salzburg for USMNT attacker Brenden Aaronson.
“Leeds continue to push for deal now. Salzburg want to hold out for summer (with Leeds favourite).
“Leeds had $20m bid rejected.”

The Whites really mean business, and they want to conduct face-to-face talks in order to get a deal over the line before February 1.
However, with Salzburg playing Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 next month, it is arguably the club’s and player’s biggest game till date, and they want him very much around.
Additionally, Aaronson’s former club Philadelphia Union retain a sell-on clause between 10-20% on the next transfer, and while he moved last January for an initial £4.8million, incentives potentially take the fee to £6.7million, and they are guaranteed to be met if he remains with the Austrian side until the end of the campaign.
It means the player himself will want to do his old club a favour by staying put this month, or Leeds will need to pay a lot more than they are budgeting for.
That they are going through all these hassles for him speaks volumes.
They definitely believe the youngster can walk straight in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI and make a difference, and the Argentine surely approves.
The west Yorkshire giants will need to be ready to stump up the cash if they want to get their man in the coming days.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign int’l striker on loan with move already made.
