Leeds respond to ‘disrespectful’ Daily Mail sack story about Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke’s job as the Leeds United manager is reportedly under threat despite leading his team to promotion to the Premier League.
On Easter Monday, Leeds’ spot in the 2025/26 Premier League was sealed as they beat Stoke City 6-0 at Elland Road.
However, it’s since been reported that Farke could be sacked by 49ers Enterprises, who have concerns about the former Norwich manager’s record in the Premier League.

Leeds issue response to shock Farke sack story
Leeds have responded to the news in a mixed manner.
According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, the Yorkshire club aren’t impressed by the timing of the Daily Mail’s article.
However, the 2024/25 Championship promotion winners haven’t exactly thrown their weight behind Farke to support him.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning (8:55am, 24 April), Crook said: “We did reach out to Leeds yesterday when this story first emerged in the Daily Mail but they wouldn’t comment.
“I think they felt the timing of the article was a bit disrespectful but they did have the opportunity to come out and say, ‘Daniel Farke’s our man, he’s taken us to promotion’. They didn’t say that, so I do think there are conversations to be had.”

Who will be the next Leeds manager if Farke is sacked?
Farke’s job at Elland Road is under scrutiny despite winning promotion to the Premier League.
However, 49ers Enterprises do have solid reasons as to why they would be apprehensive to let the German lead the Whites in the top flight due to his rotten record at that level with Norwich.
Legendary former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is one name who’s been mentioned as a possible replacement for Farke.
Thiago Motta, who was sacked by Juventus last month, is another.
Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | |
Norwich 19/20 | 38 | 5 | 6 | 27 |
Norwich 21/22 (Sacked in November) | 11 | 1 | 2 | 8 |
It’s too early to say who could replace Farke at this stage – there are a lot of ifs and buts involved.
Ultimately, it’s going to hinge on whether or not Paraag Marathe sees Farke as being suitable to keep Leeds in the Premier League.
But that is also going to depend on how well the Americans back the United manager in the summer transfer window and how well they spend any money he’s given.
