Leeds report identifies 28y/o Burnley ace as the man who could stop the Whites

The official Leeds United match preview has singled out Burnley star James Tarkowski as the man that could stop the Whites in full flow on Sunday.

Looking ahead of Sunday’s clash at Elland Road, the club released a match preview on their official website.

The Whites have highlighted the battle that could come between Rodrigo and Tarkowski as a potential game-defining one.

On the Burnley defender, Leeds said: “The defender knows all about how to organise a defence and keep clean sheets in the Premier League.”

Tarkowski has been a mainstay in the Burnley defence this season, starting in 11 of their Premier League games so far.

His impressive form is not going unnoticed either, with clubs reportedly queuing up to sign the Burnley star.

A defender in fine form

Leeds are absolutely right to earmark the Englishman as a potential threat to their attack on Sunday.

Tarkowski comes into the game on a great run of form – as per WhoScored, he has recorded average match ratings of 7.18 or higher in his last three outings.

According to WhoScored, per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, Tarkowski wins 2.1 of the 2.5 tackles he attempts and is only dribbled past 0.4 times a game.

As a whole, Burnley are starting to showcase some of their best Premier League form after a heavy defeat to Manchester City.

Sean Dyche’s men lost 5-0 at the Etihad but since then have conceded just two goals in their last four league outings, taking seven points against Everton, Arsenal and Wolves along the way.
