Leeds players start turning on Meslier as Elland Road exit update emerges

Leeds United players have started to turn on goalkeeper Illan Meslier, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The report in the newspaper’s print edition (page 90, 19 January) claims that no clubs have made an offer or enquired about the Frenchman in the winter transfer window.

It states that the Whites are expected to make a decision on the 24-year-old’s future in the summer after his recent mistakes left teammates frustrated.

The report claims that Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell and Joel Piroe were all “visibly furious” after his mistakes in the 3-3 draw against Hull City.

Meslier form a huge concern for Leeds United

The French star’s mistakes could cost Daniel Farke’s side promotion if he stays in the starting line-up.

He has been directly responsible for the Whites dropping points from a winning position in two matches this season, against Sunderland in October and Hull on 4 January.

In an interview with BBC 5 Live (11 January, 5:51 pm) during the FA Cup clash with Harrogate, former Whites star Paul Robinson suggested that he could be dropped in favour of Karl Darlow.

He has been a solid number one in his time at Elland Road but it could be time to move from the Frenchman if Farke wants to secure promotion.

If he continues and costs the Whites more points it could cost them the chance to play Premier League football next season with the standings razor-close at the top of the Championship.

The last thing that Leeds will want is another playoff berth, so they must ensure that they finish in the automatic promotion places.
