Leeds pay £4m total for Nketiah
Leeds brought in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah on deadline day and it’s costing them a lot of money – £4m in loan fee and wages.
That’s according to Football Insider who have broken a lot of Leeds stories in the past few months.
They claim that Leeds are paying a straight £2m+ loan fee for Nketiah plus the entirety of his wages, which equates to an extra £35,000-a-week.
That puts him right at the top of the Leeds pile with Kiko Casilla the highest-paid player on £40,000-a-week.
With Kemar Roofe on £10,000-a-week when he was at Elland Road, that’s a fair chunk of his fee going on Nketiah which serves to show how highly regarded he is, both by Arsenal and by Bielsa.
If Helder Costa was the name that got Leeds fans excited earlier in the summer, Nkeitah is the man whose task it is to score the goals that will finally get Leeds promoted.
That’s a lot of pressure on the shoulders of a 20-year-old but he doesn’t seem like the sort of player who will be phased. He’s scored at every level he’s played at with Arsenal, prolifically with the youth sides plus three for the first-team. Seeing as he’s only had three senior starts, that’s not a bad return.
Leeds fans might have to wait to see him in action – tomorrow will likely come too soon for him to start, although he could be introduced from the bench.
If he is, he’s bound to get a deafening reaction from an expectant Elland Road crowd at home for the first time this season.
