Leeds offer £13.7m for Andrea Petagna
Italian site TMW has claimed that Leeds have tabled a £13.7m (€15m) offer for SPAL striker Andrea Petagna.
That’s a big sum of money for a Leeds side who said they would rely on loan moves this summer.
However, TMW also claim that it’s not enough to secure the services of the striker that Leeds were linked with back in 2014.
They state that SPAL are looking for £22.8m (€25m), an amount that would almost certainly rule Leeds out if there were any truth in the report.
Back in 2014, Petagna’s agent revealed that Leeds were interested in a loan move for the AC Milan striker, via Sky Sports.
He ended up being loaned to Latina Calcio instead and did another two loan stints in Italy before being offloaded for just £900k to Atalanta in 2016.
After another two loan stints, he became an SPAL player on a permanent deal this summer for £10.8m. If sold, that would mean an instant double-your-money profit for SPAL for a striker who scored 17 goals in 37 games, 16 in Serie A.
That’s got him on the radar for a big-money move but at the price quoted it won’t be to Elland Road.
