Leeds now looking for young midfielder - The Athletic
Leeds United are now looking to sign a young midfielder after completing the deal to bring Junior Firpo to Elland Road.
The Spanish international made the switch official on Tuesday morning, singing a four-year deal and becoming our third permanent move of the summer.
The Athletic shared an insight into how the deal was completed soon after and included the next steps for the Whites.
Victor Orta played a huge role in the Firpo move and is already working to strengthen yet another area for Marcelo Bielsa.
“It is not expected to be the end of the business,” they wrote.
“As Leeds are also searching for a young central midfield player with the potential to develop under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.”
Bielsa will be over the moon with the business conducted so far at Elland Road, securing Jack Harrison and solving a long-standing headache at left-back.
One signing we are yet to see is El Loco himself, and we are desperate to see his deal announced before the next move.
With Nahitan Nandez all-but-ruled out of a move to West Yorkshire, any deal for a young midfielder appears to be anything but imminent.
Bringing in a younger option will be perfect for the state of the current squad, especially after how last year played out.
No one expected Stuart Dallas to jump into midfield, but he cemented his spot ahead of Kalvin Phillips and left Mateusz Klich on the bench.
A younger option can play with the under-23s, and rise under Bielsa to become a real rotation option and a future starter at Elland Road.
