Leeds goalkeeper Meslier reacts as major Premier League transfer announced

Leeds United are preparing for a busy transfer window after gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke’s men topped the Championship with 100 points this season, but it’s widely agreed that they’ll need to recruit several top players to stand a chance of remaining in the top division.

With several Premier League clubs already being active in the transfer window, Leeds fans may be growing frustrated at the lack of activity surrounding their club.

Meslier reacts to Rayan Cherki signing at Man City

Leeds are believed to be close to finalising the transfer of Manor Solomon, following his successful loan spell this season.

However, there have been no confirmed transfers for fans to be excited about during the first section of the summer transfer window.

In contrast, Manchester City have wasted no time in bolstering their squad.

They completed the signing of French winger Rayan Cherki on Tuesday (10 June) just before the summer window temporarily closed.

The 21-year-old has two caps for France and tore up Ligue 1 this past season for Lyon. It’s the type of signing that seems miles away for the Whites.

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier reacted to the signing by liking Manchester City’s official revelation of Cherki on Instagram.

Leeds will bide their time in the transfer market

It might be frustrating for Leeds fans to witness such little activity during the first period of the transfer window being open.

After all, it’s generally seen as optimal to get your business done early so players have time to gel into the squad.

Still, the Whites won’t have as much money as Manchester City to throw around in the transfer market.

They’ll need to be more calculated in the transfer market, potentially plucking out unproven superstars from lesser-known teams. The ‘Leicester City method’, as some people like to call it.

Leeds have been linked with a handful of exciting strikers, and many fans agree that this should be a priority for Farke.

The ultimate goal will be to build a capable squad by the time the transfer window closes. That could require some patience from Leeds’ recruitment team and the fans.
