It’s been very quiet at Elland Road so far this summer but there is finally activity on the horizon.

According to Phil Hay, we’re close to signing Rafa Mujica, with the player set to leave Barcelona on Sunday when his contract expires.

He’s already said his goodbyes on his Twitter page where he posted a long message thanking everyone at Barcelona for his time there.

He doesn’t mention Leeds but Hay doesn’t get these things wrong and we’re expecting an announcement on Monday at the latest.

So what are we getting? In his time at Barcelona, he’s scored an average of 0.29 goals per 90 minutes with an xG (expected goals) of 0.35. He takes, on average, 2.34 shots per game but less than half of these (45.3%) are on target [www.wyscout.com]. He’s got pace and he likes to run at defenders, and that’s what we need more of at the moment.

He’ll need to be good to get near the first team this season but it will be interesting to see what he can do in pre-season. Marcelo Bielsa has obviously seen something he likes and that’s good enough for us.

It’s good enough for these fans too, who all took time to out to welcome our soon-to-be new recruit on Twitter.
