Leeds fan shares image of fenced-off area at Elland Road as building work is carried out
Leeds United have pressed on with their building work at Centenary Square while fans have been forced to stay away from Elland Road.
Last year, as part of the club’s centenary plans, it was announced that fans will have the chance to etch their name in history by having bricks laid down at the new Centenary Square site.
The player wall has already been unveiled with Ezgjan Alioski and ex-defender Tony Dorigo opening it up to the public in November.
And now, a Leeds fan has shown on Twitter that further work is taking place at Centenary Square while the Championship season is suspended.
Leeds fan Katie shared images at Elland Road on Sunday, showing the tributes for Norman Hunter at the club shop and the fenced-off Centenary Square.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has recently revealed that there are plans in place to “dramatically” upgrade Elland Road over the coming years.
If the Whites are promoted to the Premier League then some renovation work will have to take place ahead of next season with Elland Road requiring a bigger area for the media to operate in.
Leeds also have planning permission from the council to upgrade the floodlights while it remains to be seen whether a capacity expansion is in the pipeline.
But with the Whites heading back to the top-flight and selling out regularly in the Championship, we wouldn’t be shocked that in the coming years, the capacity will be boosted massively.
In other Leeds United news, fans are thrilled with links to sign this attacker who is “better than” Helder Costa.
