Leeds fan has cops called on him after celebrating equaliser v Wolves

A Leeds United fan in Norway was visited by the police for his manner of celebration after the equaliser against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Rodrigo drew the Whites level from the spot in the 93rd minute to help his side earn a 1-1 draw, and the goal sent Elland Road wild.

The home fans were not the only ones going bonkers as a die-hard fan was also losing it in Oslo.

The Norway police posted on their official account: “We have had a patrol on Ensjø after a report of loud screams from an apartment.

“The patrol came in contact with a cheerful and eager football supporter.

“He acknowledged a somewhat loud noise in connection with the penalty kick. We ended the visit and moved on.”

Twitter user Svend Karlsen threw more light on the matter, posting: “Police in Oslo responded to loud screams reported just before 5pm today.

“Patrol found a very happy man who had seen his PL side convert a penalty late at their match.”

The fan in question took to Twitter to respond, saying: “Yep that was me.”

Leeds saw the funny side, posting via their official Twitter account: “No officer, that’s just one of our fans celebrating!”

Wild scenes

Leeds were just a few seconds away from another defeat having already lost four league games in 2021-22, but Joe Gelhardt came on and changed all that.

The teenage sensation made life hard for the Wolves defence, eventually winning the penalty that earned Marcelo Bielsa’s side a deserved point and coming close to grabbing a winner with the last kick of the game.

The home supporters would have raised the roof had that happened, and the Norwegian fan in question might have had to answer more questions from the authorities.

The Whites are well-loved across Europe and all over the world, and Saturday’s result definitely calmed a lot of troubled minds.

The Yorkshire side need to move clear the drop zone and will be looking to bag their second win of the campaign when they visit struggling Norwich City next weekend.

In other Leeds United news, a talkSPORT host has blasted a Whites ace in an on-air rant, insisting he is not Premier League standard.
