Leeds early team news v Preston – Max Wober has knee injury as doubts emerge

Daniel Farke has kept his cards close to his chest with team news ahead of the Leeds United clash with Preston North End.

The Whites make a trip to Deepdale on Saturday [14 December] as they look to pick up another three points in the hope of returning to the top of the table in the Championship.

Preston come into this game unbeaten in five so it won’t be an easy match for Farke’s side. However, he will be hopeful to have plenty of players available to him to boost his side.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash, Farke admitted he would be waiting to make some choices as he said [quoted via Leeds Live]: “Some late decisions. Those who played 90 on Tuesday have only had recovery sessions. This afternoon will be a proper session, and we will make decisions there.

“Several players with knocks and question marks.

“Wober, busy week, first time in the line-up for ages. Can he do three in seven? I can’t say yes at the moment because [his] knee was swollen after the last game. Hope he can train.

“Same with Byram. Some cramps. Looks better.

“Bogle has improved. Session to test him today. Tests for many players today before decisions on tomorrow. I hope they are all available apart from our long-term issues. We have to wait and see.”

Leeds United will want three points against Preston

After a recent defeat against Blackburn Rovers, the Whites have put it right in the past week with two victories ahead of their game at Preston.

With affairs at the top of the Championship continuing to stay tight, Farke will be keen for his side to build on this and go on another winning run to boost their promotion hopes this term.

Currently, the West Yorkshire outfit sit two points behind Sheffield United who are in the top spot and they would love to knock them off and take the top spot on Saturday, even for a few hours before the Blades play.

Nevertheless, with two sides gaining automatic promotion to the top flight, and with plenty of the season still to go the Whites will also take second in the league at this stage as it keeps them in the mix going forward.

Unfortunately for Leeds, with success comes more games on TV which has led to plenty of matches being changed for broadcast, giving Farke’s side less time to recover at times, especially with an already busy December.

The boss is keen to keep his cards close to his chest regarding team news heading into this one but he will be hopeful that he has some choices to make when it comes to the line-up.

In other Leeds news, the 49ers could give Daniel Farke the perfect January transfer window by signing an “outstanding” on-loan ace.
