Leeds United confirm their starting XI against Newcastle United
Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for their game against Newcastle United.
Marcelo Bielsa has made a total of two changes from the team that lost 3-0 to Liverpool as the Whites look to pick up their first three points of the season.
Illan Meslier starts in goal while Mateusz Klich comes into the side in place of Diego Llorente, who was ruled out through injury.
This means that Luke Ayling will play at centre-back alongside Liam Cooper, while Stuart Dallas will play at right-back with Junior Firpo at left-back.
Kalvin Phillips starts in front of the back four as normal.
Klich replaces Rodrigo while Jack Harrison also unexpectedly misses out, and Dan James is handed his first start for the Whites.
Upfront Patrick Bamford will be looking to add to his goal tally of one, and Raphinha will be looking to provide that creative spark that Leeds have missed at times this season.
A strong side that should have enough to beat Newcastle.
Obviously, the Whites have been hit by a large number of injuries, especially in defence, and Bielsa has had to shuffle his pack.
The bench looks a bit weak, but given how poor the Toon have been defensively, we can’t see how the likes of Raphinha, James, and Bamford will prove too much for Newcastle.
Leeds will have to be better defensively and will also have to be wary of Allan Saint-Maximin, but they should still have more than enough to leave St James’ Park victorious.
This is an ideal chance for the Whites to get their first win, and we can’t wait for the game to start.
Bielsa has picked a strong starting XI, and this is the chance for the Whites to grab a much-needed three points.
