Leeds camp struck by illness as Daniel Farke names two fresh doubts vs West Ham

Daniel Farke is preparing his Leeds United side for a clash against West Ham.

West Ham are set for a trip to face Leeds with both sides hopeful of bouncing back to winning ways after Premier League defeat last time out.

The Hammers were poor against Brentford after Leeds had lost 2-0 away to Burnley in a disappointing afternoon at Turf Moor.

The Whites should feel more confident at Elland Road, especially as Leeds are ready to come up against West Ham, who are on a shocking run of form.

Farke will be keen to secure yet another three points at home, but will need some luck on the injury front if he is to do so.

Daniel Farke confirms Leeds United injury news vs West Ham

The German head coach has already had to deal with his fair share of injuries and fitness concerns this season.

Summer signing Lucas Perri has struggled at Leeds and only returned to the squad against Burnley, having been absent since August.

As positive as his reintroduction was, the Brazilian wasn’t joined by a duo of attacking stars in Lancashire who continue to miss out.

Both Wilfried Gnonto and Noah Okafor were absent through injury, and there is no doubt that they were missed.

Ahead of the West Ham clash in LS11, Farke participated in his Wednesday press conference and revealed the latest injury update for his side, including setbacks for two regulars.

He said: “In personnel terms, we have to take some late decisions, for sure. Obviously, we have a few problems in the offence.

Okafor and Willy Gnonto are making some good progress in their rehab, but they weren’t able to complete the whole of training this week.

There are a few players struggling with illness, as probably the whole country is doing at the moment.

Also, Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk missed training today, so there are question marks about their availability.”

Leeds have poor recent record vs West Ham

The Whites have hardly been in the Premier League in recent years, but that hasn’t stopped them suffering against the Irons.

Leeds have only taken three points off the claret and blue outfit once in the past 20 years, coming in a 3-2 away win in 2022.

A Jack Harrison hattrick made the difference that day, and he controversially remains in LS11 for the upcoming meeting of the sides.

The Yorkshire club have lost five and drawn one outside of this since their return to the Premier League, summing up their struggles against West Ham.

Farke and Leeds will now look to change their recent history and secure a much-needed victory against what looks destined to be a relegation rival.
