Leeds backed to make ‘ambitious’ Svensson transfer amid Premier League interest
Carlton Palmer believes it will be an “ambitious” move if Leeds United attempt to sign Swedish defender Daniel Svensson.
Leeds United had been linked with a move for Svensson ahead of the January transfer window (Fotboll Direkt) in a bid to strengthen their defensive line.
However, the Whites will face stern competition from Premier League clubs if they are to acquire his services with former Whites midfielder Palmer assessing their chances.
Speaking to Football League World (27 November), he said: “It’s an ambitious swoop for Leeds if, in fact, they do go ahead with it, with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool interested in Svensson, who’s a versatile figure. He can operate as a left-back or as a central midfield player.
“He’s seen his stock rise of late. He plied his trade in Denmark with Nordsjaelland and the way he’s played this season has led the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal to be interested in the 22-year-old.”
Leeds United must use January to their advantage
Few clubs in the Championship have the same level of pulling power that the Whites possess and they must use it in January in a bid to strengthen their side where possible.
Daniel Farke’s side have had a great campaign so far and a win against Luton (27 November) would send them back to the summit of the Championship.
However, some of their closest rivals will be strengthening in January and Leeds must do the same if they are to have a serious chance of promotion.

Its a fair argument to make that the Whites have the best squad in the division and that added quality and depth could be the deciding the fact when it comes to achieving automatic promotion.
While a left back isn’t necessarily on top of the list of priorities, Leeds, like any team in the Championship, have various areas of improvement that could be addressed.
In other Leeds United news, Joe Gelhardt could leave the club in January.
