Leeds 27y/o ruled out of clash v West Brom with injury blow – report
Leeds United will be without Diego Llorente for Tuesday night’s game against relegation strugglers West Brom, according to LeedsLive.
Marcelo Bielsa confirmed during the wake of the 1-0 win against Burnley that the defender had suffered a fresh set back.
As quoted by LeedsLive, the Whites boss said: “He had a setback on Wednesday and from there he hasn’t evolved. He stopped being an option for the game today (Sunday).”
Llorente returned to training ahead of the Burnley match and it looked as if we would be seeing him return to action against Sean Dyche’s men.
However, that was not to be, as Leeds lined up in a back three, with Kalvin Phillips dropping into a deeper role.
Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling also started at the back as the home side looked to minimise the threat of both Ashley Barnes and ex-Leeds man Chris Wood.
Early signs of concern for Llorente
It has been a nightmare start to life at Elland Road for Llorente, who has not featured since the away defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
With Robin Koch ruled out for the foreseeable and Liam Cooper also injured, Bielsa must be keeping one eye on the January window at this point.
However, he can take hope from the defensive performance his side put in on Sunday afternoon.
After being labelled naive after anyone and everyone following the defeat to Manchester United, the Whites put in a mature performance against a testing Burnley side.
According to Wyscout, they made 51 interceptions and 26 clearances during the 1-0 win – a sizeable increase on their season averages per 90 minutes in the Premier League (39.6 and 13.5).
