‘Leeds 100% set to sack Daniel Farke this week’, huge claim emerges on Sky Sports News

Daniel Farke will not be the Leeds United manager by the time we reach the New Year.

Leeds were beaten 3-2 by Manchester City on Saturday, but there’s no doubt that fans will be proud of their team’s performance at the Etihad.

Farke is under major pressure and it seemed as though he and his side were crumbling when they went 2-0 down thanks to first-half goals by Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol.

Farke has already been told to put more faith in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and that’s what he did at the break when the ex-Everton striker replaced Willy Gnonto.

Four minutes later, Calvert-Lewin was on the scoresheet before Lukas Nmecha levelled the scoreline in the 68th minute as he slotted home a rebound after his penalty kick was saved.

Unfortunately for the Whites, Foden grabbed his second of the game late in the game to deal Leeds their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat.

Tim Sherwood backs Leeds to sack Daniel Farke

Earlier this month, Tim Sherwood said it’s “inevitable” that Leeds will sack Farke, and with the Yorkshire club’s form continuing to worsen, the former Tottenham manager has doubled down on his verdict.

When asked if he thinks Farke will still be the Leeds manager at the start of January, Sherwood said on Sky Sports News: “No. He will get sacked within the next three games. 100 per cent.

I don’t think he should, I think they should keep hold of him because he’s getting the best out of the group he’s got.

“People will say they spent £100million, but they’re way behind and have got a lot of Championship players.

A lot of established Premier League teams are spending even more than that, so they’re going further ahead.

He will get sacked because they won’t sit on their hands; they’ll make a change.

They can’t change the players, so they’ll change the manager.”

Who’s in contention to replace Daniel Farke as Leeds manager?

There haven’t been many concrete links to new managers, with only mild speculation among fans on social media.

Former Leeds coach Carlos Corberan is someone who could be the new manager, especially after the good work he did at West Brom and the fact that his future at Valencia is in doubt.

Marco Rose, Bo Svensson, Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou are also currently available and have also cropped up among the speculation.

Rose has been out of work since leaving RB Leipzig in March. His Red Bull connections, having also managed Red Bull Salzburg, could be something of interest to the Leeds United owners.

Svensson did well at Mainz before a disastrous stint at Union Berlin that last just a few months last year.

Rodgers and Postecoglou are known quantities but fans may prefer the former out of those two former Premier League managers, given how badly Postecoglou did at Nottingham Forest.
