Lee Hendrie drools over what Georginio Rutter did in Leeds United v Stoke
Lee Hendrie has praised Georginio Rutter’s efforts for Leeds United in the first half against Stoke City.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event (25 October, 08:28 pm), Hendrie pointed to a moment in the 26th minute of the game where Rutter slipped Joel Piroe in on goal, but he failed to convert.
Leeds struggled in the first half of the encounter and the pair struggled to make an impact, but the Frenchman’s few moments of class were the best Leeds offered in the opening 45 minutes.

Hendrie said: “They can break so quickly because they have the quality that runs through them. Absolutely brilliant from Rutter, great little disguised pass to split the defence.
“Super run from Joel Piroe and then he forces a big save from Travers, he has to get down to use his legs.”
Sparks of magic
Even when Leeds struggle in games, they have high-level players who can make chances from very little, and Rutter and Piroe both fit the bill.
Daniel Farke would have been frustrated by the Whites’ performance in the first half, especially considering their emphatic comeback against Norwich in their last game. The Potters have been trying to crawl away from the relegation zone, and their recent victory to promotion-chasers Sunderland was a big help.

In Leeds’ defence, Stoke remained resilient at the back and picked the pockets of Farke’s attackers and always seemed to the bounce in their favour.
However, Piroe’s chance here should have been taken. The striker does seem to come up with the goals when it counts but is no stranger to missing opportunities
