Largie Ramazani reveals where Leeds United outrank Real Madrid after first Elland Road outing

Leeds United new boy Largie Ramazani has claimed playing at Elland Road is louder and more imposing than Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Ramazani made the call following his debut in a win over Hull City in the Whites’ last outing, and described his new home stadium as more “intimidating” than the big grounds he visited in Spain as an Almeria player.

Daniel Farke got his man late in the transfer window, as Ramazani signed in a deal worth up to £10million from the Andalusian side following their relegation from La Liga last season, scoring in his farewell appearance.

Speaking to BBC West Yorkshire Sport Daily [11 September], the 23-year-old winger said: “When I played at the Bernabeu, it was loud, but it wasn’t intimidating.

“It wasn’t as loud as Elland Road. Maybe the ‘yeah’ cheer in England is louder than the ‘goal’ cheer in Spain, I don’t know, but you feel it more here at Leeds.

“People told me how loud it was and I didn’t know whether to believe them until now.”

Leeds United anticipate a lot from Largie Ramazani

Ramazani was in and out of the Almeria team in the Spanish top flight last year, starting 16 of his 29 appearances.

Among that, however, he did manage eight goal contributions – not too bad a return for a young player in a relegated side. The hope at Leeds United is that in dominating matches most weeks, the former Manchester United prospect can thrive and create.

Ramazani has pressure and anticipation on his shoulders – first and foremost as he has joined the league favourites, reeling from play-off heartache and with the promotion push hanging like a medallion around the club.

It’s also the case individually for the Belgian winger because he has replaced the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter as a vital creative outlet, primed for goals and assists, and will get plenty of football in a compact squad.

Ramazani is somewhat of a throwback, that unpredictable wide player who likes to take on his man and deliver an end product. It won’t always be smooth sailing, but if he likes the atmosphere at Elland Road already, it’s his style of play which will feed into it even further.
