Kiko Casilla sends Twitter message after Leeds start in 2-0 win v Southampton
Kiko Casilla has delivered a message after he started for Leeds United in their 2-0 victory against Southampton on Tuesday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa has insisted that the Spaniard will likely play against West Brom on Sunday too, as he wants him to finish the season on the pitch.
There were differing responses from Leeds fans to this decision, with Casilla still disgraced after being found guilty of racial abuse last season.
Writing on his personal Twitter account and translated, Casilla appeared to be grateful for the opportunity to play football, rather than put on the Leeds shirt.
“How I missed you dear football,” he said.
Credit.
Looking at this 90 minutes alone, you have to give Casilla credit for his performance.
The Spaniard made a number of good saves to keep out the likes of Che Adams, and also played that brilliant long ball to Raphinha who then set up the second game that sealed the three points.
It will be interesting to see how the returning fans treat Casilla at Elland Road on Sunday, and if there will be any jeers at him potentially starting against West Brom.
Bielsa has made it clear that he respects the former Real Madrid man massively, and praised him for being a “top professional” last night.
We still find it very hard to fight his corner after what he was found guilty of, and although we respect and praise his performance, that is as far as it will ever go ahead of what could be his final appearance for the club this weekend.
