Kiko Casilla could seal exit settlement with Leeds United this summer - Graham Smyth

Leeds United could seal a financial settlement with Kiko Casilla that would see him leave the club, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported that the settlement or another loan move is “inevitable” this summer.

Casilla has not started for loan club Elche in nearly six months and still has one year left on his deal at Elland Road.

Writing in his latest column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth shared what could happen with the Spaniard in the summer.

“The future of goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who has not started a La Liga game for loan club Elche since October, will also be up in the air,” he wrote.

“Marsch has been impressed with both Illan Meslier and his current back-up Kristoffer Klaesson since taking over in the wake of Bielsa’s sacking and a return to Elland Road for 35-year-old Casilla feels unlikely.

“With a year left to run on his contract another loan move or a settlement with Leeds is almost inevitable.”

Get him out.

Things have changed at Elland Road since Casilla left on loan, with Jesse Marsch replacing Marcelo Bielsa the biggest of them all.

Kristoffer Klaesson is now the number two behind Illan Meslier and did well on his Premier League debut against Wolves last month.

Casilla has been disgraced after being found of racial abuse towards Jonathan Leko when playing at Charlton years ago.

That doesn’t just disappear, and it is best for all parties if he was moved on in the summer and not welcomed back.

There is no need for him to come back at all, and the Whites can get this exit sorted imminently and let him continue his career elsewhere.

We are in a new era now, and there are many more faces as well as Casilla who will find their futures elsewhere after this summer.
