Kieran Maguire shares £105m Leeds United update after new documents published at Elland Road

Leeds United posted a record revenue and an operating loss of £105million in their latest accounts, according to Kieran Maguire.

The football finance expert tweeted on Wednesday (10 April) that player sales reduced the Whites’ overall losses to £34million in 2022/23.

The club revealed that turnover throughout the period rose from £189.2million in 2021/22 to £189.7million in the latest set of accounts.

Leeds United record manageable losses

It would be a major concern if Leeds had recorded a loss in excess of £100million in a single year due to the strict financial reporting measures.

There have been several clubs who have fallen on the wrong side of the red line in recent months, with Everton and Nottingham Forest both being handed points deductions.

But after the Whites earned a reasonable amount of cash back through player sales, it meant that their losses in the latest period have been manageable.

The club have also conducted some fairly shrewd business this season to ensure that they haven’t overspent while also remaining competitive in their bid for promotion.

Daniel Farke would need to strengthen his side if they were to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League, but they have several players out on loan who they could sell to help balance the books.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have submitted an offer to sign a forward sensation as a fee development has emerged.
