Khvicha Kvaratskhelia makes transfer decision amid Leeds United interest

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has decided not to return to Russian club Rubin Kazan amid interest from Leeds United.

According to a report from Il Mattino, the likes of Napoli, Tottenham and Leeds are keen to secure his signature.

His situation has been complicated following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The report suggests that the winger has communicated his decision to the Russian club that he doesn’t want to return after the international break.

The transfer window is closed at the moment but UEFA have opened the door for players to leave Russia and join another club during the season.

The problem is Rubin haven’t received any former offer for the player as yet.

While Leeds are yet to make a move for him officially, the Whites will be boosted by the fact that the player wants to leave Russia at the moment.

His idea is to return to his country, Georgia, and play for FC Dinamo Batumi who are eager to take him on board for the rest of the season.

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, he is available for nearly half of what he was worth last summer, which is around £12.5million.

He represents a safe gamble although he has no previous experience of playing in the Premier League.

At the moment, the Whites should solely focus on securing their Premier League status, as they look to climb up the table.

Jesse Marsch needs to take a hard look at the squad before making necessary additions. Having said that, the Whites definitely need to sign a winger in the summer, even if Raphinha stays put.

In other Leeds United news, the Barcelona move may be in doubt after the Blaugrana reportedly moved for a major European star.
