Kemar Roofe makes Patrick Bamford prediction after Leeds fall to defeat v Cardiff
Kemar Roofe has backed Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford to score the goal that seals promotion to the Premier League for the Whites.
The Anderlecht forward made the prediction for his former teammate after fans slated the 26-year-old for his performance at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Bamford failed to find the back of the net, and even prevented Jack Harrison from a certain goal, blocking his shot on the line.
Roofe has been vocal with his support for his former side this season and sent many messages to the likes of Mateusz Klich after the disappointing restart.
A fan claimed that if Roofe had stayed at Elland Road, promotion will have almost have been secured, something he responded too.
“He will score the winner to get Leeds promoted and no one will speak negative of him,” he wrote on Klich’s post on Instagram.
Bamford commented on the potential of scoring the goal that sends Leeds to the Premier League in a recent Q&A and couldn’t hide his delight at the possibility of doing just that.
The former Boro man scored the final goal before the lockdown against Huddersfield, but he will need to find the back of the net numerous times between now and the end of the season to help Leeds’ chances of going up.
The complaints about Bamford’s performance on Sunday were certainly justified, although some rustiness was expected in the final third.
Bamford had two shots on goal, but did get dispossessed four times because of a couple of bad touches according to WhoScored – he also only completed 66.7% of his 15 passes, nowhere near good enough.
With Jean-Kevin Augustin injured and Tyler Roberts filling in for Pablo Hernandez, Bamford is carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders, and he must get motivated by that or he could struggle.
