Kalvin Phillips & Tyler Roberts react as Kemar Roofe scores first Rangers goal

Kemar Roofe’s move to Anderlecht from Leeds United never quite worked out for him.

Fast forward almost one year later and the former Whites forward has already moved to another new club, this time Rangers.

Steven Gerrard made the move for only £4million, meaning Leeds can claim they earned a great fee for Roofe only one year ago.

Roofe made his first start for the Gers on Saturday, and he also found the back of the net during their 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

The forward posted on his personal Instagram account after the game, claiming that he is delighted to have football back.

Leeds duo Kalvin Phillips and Tyler Roberts were quick to react to their former teammate, and they were delighted he managed to score.

“Bagsman back at it,” Roberts wrote.

Phillips went for the simple response, simply adding: “Here he is.”

Roofe had two shots on goal in the win and was efficient enough to find the back of the net in the easy victory for the home side.

Marcelo Bielsa will not allow the Leeds board to sell any of his players if they are involved in his plans, and Roofe clearly wasn’t – something that hasn’t backfired.

Patrick Bamford bounced back from a number of injuries during his first year at the club to lead the line in the season which mattered.

The 26-year-old scored 16 goals and played a major part in winning the Championship – something Bielsa was clear to show during the celebrations at Elland Road.

Roofe was a fan-favourite and gave his all during his time in West Yorkshire, and although Leeds are at another level now – he still keeps those links with the club.
