Kalvin Phillips spotted limping ahead of Leeds United v West Brom

Kalvin Phillips seems as though he’s a major doubt to play for Leeds United on Sunday when they take on West Brom in the final match of the season.

After Leeds beat Southampton this week, BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope noticed Phillips, 25, limping after the match at St Mary’s.

And footage caught by a Leeds fan, which has emerged on Twitter, appears to show the midfielder still in discomfort ahead of playing West Brom this weekend.

Leeds’ players all stay at the DoubleTree hotel ahead of all their home games, which is where a fan caught this footage.

You can see about 19 seconds in that Phillips isn’t walking comfortably.

Huge concern

Phillips doesn’t look likely to play this weekend – let’s face it.

And even if there was a shred of doubt about his fitness, we don’t think Marcelo Bielsa should risk playing the midfielder when it could hamper his chances of playing for England at the European Championships.

Phillips is bound to be on Gareth Southgate’s list of players for the Euros so there’s no way that the 25-year-old should be risked to play against West Brom.

We should be able to beat Sam Allardyce’s side without Phillips with either Robin Koch or Pascal Struijk stepping up to play in the defensive midfield role.

West Brom’s only player worth fearing is Matheus Pereira and he doesn’t seem as though he’s likely to play this weekend.

Without Phillips, we’re not worried about it’s a gutting blow for fans who’ll be at Elland Road on Sunday expecting to see their favourite holding midfielder.

In other Leeds United news, this never-before-seen youngster has been training with the senior squad ahead of playing the Baggies.
