Kalvin Phillips reacts as Raphinha earns Brazil call-up
Raphinha has been called up by Brazil again after missing the last qualifiers, and the Leeds United ace cannot wait to make his debut.
The 24-year-old got his maiden call-up ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Chile, Argentina and Peru earlier this month, but he could not travel due to COVID-19 and quarantine protocols.
Brazil play Venezuela, Colombia and Uruguay next month, and national team manager Tite has handed the Whites ace a fresh chance to finally represent his country, and the player has taken to his personal Instagram account to express his delight on Friday.
Raphinha said: “Happy and proud with the chance to represent my country.
“It will be an honour to me to be with the Brazilian National Team.
“Thanks for all support and messages.
“Let’s do it!!”
Kalvin Phillips has reacted in the comment section, saying: “Love it bro”
Raphinha opted to remain in England and miss the last call-up, and Brazil responded by asking FIFA to ban him from playing against Liverpool, but things were eventually sorted out between the country and Leeds.
Tite would have only handed the attacker another call-up if it was certain that he was going to be allowed to travel, and it seems there is not going to be any issues this time.
FIFA revealed that they have been working with the British government to ensure players travelling out of the country work in a bubble when on international duty.
There are also plans in place for them to get an exception rule which would see them avoid the mandatory quarantine upon their return to the country, and that is good news for the Whites forward.
Raphinha could become a Brazil international in a matter of days, and having so many players representing their countries in the squad would help spur others on and attract quality players.
Phillips knows the feeling that comes with being an international player, and his reaction to his teammate’s post sums it up.
