Kalvin Phillips reacts as Alessandro Barcherini confirms Leeds United exit

Alessandro Barcherini confirmed his exit from Leeds United in the past 24 hours, and it is clear that he played a massive role in the squad during his time at the club.

The goalkeeping coach has worked with the under-23s and the first-team during his time at Elland Road, spending the past three years of his career in West Yorkshire.

Kalvin Phillips has been among many to react to his exit statement on social media, with Gaetano Berardi another to dip his toe back into matters at Leeds.

Writing on his personal Instagram account, Barcherini shared how proud he was to help play his part in promotion back to the Premier League, calling his time at the club “Incredible.”

Phillips was straight into the comments, and it was nice to see the Yorkshire Pirlo stay in touch with those who have helped so much in his own progression.

“What a guy,” he said. “Good luck mate.”

With basically the entire academy and first-team players sending messages, the loss will be felt by all levels of the club at Thorp Arch next season and beyond.

Leeds will need to move quickly to get another staff member on board, possibly even before the new Premier League season gets underway over the weekend.

Jesse Marsch has kept some staff members around but he has also made big changes of his own with Rene Maric and Michael Skubala arriving this week.

The latter is the under-21s new head coach, so he will likely get a say on any possible replacements for Barcherini.

As for Phillips, it will be strange seeing him run out if he does play at all that is, for a new club in the shape of Manchester City but his presence is still felt in West Yorkshire.

We are slowly moving into a new era at all levels of the club, this is just another step.
