Kalvin Phillips & Patrick Bamford pay tribute to Norman Hunter after Leeds legend dies aged 76
Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford have paid tribute to Norman Hunter after the Leeds United legend sadly passed away on Friday morning.
In a statement on their website, Leeds confirmed that Hunter had passed away at the age of 76 after being taken to hospital last week and being diagnosed with COVID-19.
Tributes have been pouring in for the “Bites Yer Legs” Hunter, who made 726 appearances for Leeds during his 14-year spell at Elland Road, in which he won two league titles and the FA Cup.
Leeds midfielder Phillips has taken to Instagram to pay his respects to Hunter after hearing the devastating news.
“Rest in peace,” said Phillips, before sharing an image of himself and the former centre-back.
Bamford also took to Instagram to react to the news to pay tribute to Hunter.
The Leeds striker said: “Today we lost a legend.
“RIP Norman, my thoughts go out to your friends and family.”
Hunter’s death is an extremely sad one.
Not only is he a legend of the game after winning titles at Leeds and playing a role in England’s World Cup-winning campaign of 1966, but he was also a very nice and genuine person.
No one will forget him and we hope that once football resumes, Leeds United can pay the ultimate tribute to the legendary defender by winning promotion back to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared what Leeds have told him about the remaining nine games.
