Kalvin Phillips ‘immediate’ Leeds United return unlikely despite March update – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes Kalvin Phillips is unlikely to return to Leeds United in the “immediate” future after he was linked with an exit from Manchester City.

The Daily Star claimed (26 March) that Leeds were plotting a move to bring the 27-year-old midfielder back to West Yorkshire.

However, Robinson feels Phillips’ Manchester City career has yet to fully get going and that a departure from the Etihad isn’t on the cards.

“Not in the immediate future, no, I think he’s got a lot of unfinished business at Manchester City,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“His Manchester City career hasn’t even started yet and he’s been very unlucky with injury at the start. He’s also unlucky because Rodri is a fantastic player.

“He will feels he’s got a lot of unfinished business at City and a lot to prove there and his time there isn’t done yet.

“I can’t see him walking away from that and even consider a move back to Leeds at the moment.”

With just five Premier League appearances to his name, it’s been a season to forget for the former Leeds midfielder. In fact, Phillips has played more minutes for England in the 2022/23 season than he has for the Premier League champions.

In other Leeds United news, the club are about to spend six figures to land an attacking signing ahead of a host of big rivals.
