Kalvin Phillips gutted by Leeds United injury development with Adam Forshaw

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips was left gutted by Adam Forshaw picking up another season-ending injury.

Jesse Marsch confirmed in the past 24 hours that the midfielder has fractured his kneecap in an unfortunate training blow.

Forshaw has taken to social media to share his pain but has already vowed to return stronger next season.

“I’m gutted with the news that my season is over after an unfortunate injury in training,” he wrote on Instagram. “But since my return I’ve loved every minute this season and can’t wait for the next already.”

Phillips reacted to the news by sharing it on his own personal Instagram story, sending his teammate a heartfelt message.

“Gutted,” he said.

“You’ll be back stronger, Adam Forshaw.”

Gutting.

No one will be feeling lower than Forshaw himself right now.

After finally coming back from his nightmare two years and that hip injury, he has made a huge difference this season and earned himself a new contract.

When it finally looked as though he was in the side to stay and make a real impact alongside Phillips, that was taken away from him.

To suffer a fractured kneecap in training is worrying, but it must have been a freak accident given everything that has been said about that recently.

Phillips is set to start against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, and he would have looked forward to having someone such as Forshaw who doesn’t stop running alongside.

Instead, it will be Robin Koch or Mateusz Klich filling that role and tasked with dominating the Palace midfield on the way to hopefully another three points.
