Kalvin Phillips calls Leeds player a ‘tank’ after display in 1-0 win v Reading

Kalvin Phillips has called Leeds United team-mate Mateusz Klich a “tank” for his performance in the 1-0 win against Reading on Saturday.

Klich, 29, has been one of the most in-form players at Elland Road lately and he certainly stepped up this weekend when Phillips, 24, was forced off the pitch in the first half with a leg injury.

Marcelo Bielsa was forced into reshuffling his midfield after Phillips limped down the tunnel and Klich was left to deal with the threat of Reading’s star midfielders John Swift and Ovie Ejaria without his influential team-mate.

However Klich more that stepped up to the task and after posting an image on his personal Instagram account on Sunday, Phillips responded calling the Poland international a “tank”.

It certainly was a brilliant midfield display by Klich this weekend.

According to stats by WhoScored, the Poland international made one tackle and one interception, completed both of the dribbles he attempted and made three key passes while having an 85 per cent pass completion rate.

It was a superb, all-round display by Klich in the middle of the park and, deservedly, plenty of fans took to Twitter to hail the 29-year-old for the shift he put in.

Klich had not been playing too well during the winter period where Leeds’ form took a drastic dip but he has definitely made up for that with his displays in recent weeks.

We cannot wait to see Klich take to the field against Middlesbrough on Wednesday night – the same team he scored a brace against earlier this season.
