Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha not convinced by Leeds United new signings
Leeds United need to show ambition in the summer transfer window if they want to keep hold of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Both Raphinha and Phillips have been linked with a move away from Elland Road, and they are not convinced with the signings made by the club so far, as suggested by Jones, who previously worked for Bleacher Report.
Leeds have signed Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg this summer, and they’re looking for more additions this summer.
“One thing I’m told on Leeds is that they need to show ambition in the transfer market if they are to hold on to Kalvin Phillips or Raphinha – and at the moment the level of signings aren’t quite at the level where those two are convinced to stay,” said Jones to GiveMeSport.
Leeds have been very active in the summer transfer window, and they are likely to make more additions this summer.
The Whites are in talks with Bayern Munich to sign midfielder Marc Roca, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
It remains to be seen if the new additions could force the likes of Phillips and Raphinha to stay put.
Of the two, Raphinha is most likely to leave this summer. The Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Catalan giants are struggling to meet the asking price set by Leeds [Mundo Deportivo, 9 June, page 13].
The likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also keen to sign Raphinha, but the Reds have other priorities at the moment.
The situation of Phillips is very interesting. He has stated his desire to stay at the club, but the Whites would be powerless to prevent him if Manchester City present a lucrative offer this summer [The Mirror].
