Juventus ready to complete 'exceptional' deal for Leeds United to sign Weston McKennie amid Serie A 'crisis'

Leeds United are closing in on a dramatic swoop to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in a deal that could cost in region of £22million, according to the Daily Mail.

The Italian giants reportedly made the 24-year-old midfielder available [90Min, 24 January] for transfer, given their current club crisis where they have been deducted 15 points for their illegal activities in past transfer windows.

And reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest personal terms have been agreed upon between the Whites and the USA international [25 January].

According to the Daily Mail [25 January], the Yorkshire club are closing in on a dramatic swoop for the midfielder in a £22million deal.

The former Schalke 04 player has always wanted to play in the Premier League and sees Leeds as an exciting opportunity to live that dream, especially working alongside international teammate Tyler Adams.

The report also states that the Old Lady wished to sell the player for £27m but Leeds have managed to drive the price down with the two clubs still in talks to reach a full agreement.


McKennie is an incredible piece of business from the Whites and a huge opportunity for Jesse Marsch to sure up their vulnerable midfield for the remainder of the campaign.

With the club sitting down at the bottom end of the Premier League table, with just one point separating them from the relegation zone, Marsch desperately needed quality reinforcements and the 24-year-old perfectly fits the bill.

McKennie will arrive at Elland Road with European and international pedigree along with his tenacious, energetic and dynamic qualities in midfield which could work in perfect tandem alongside the likes of Adams, and Marc Roca.

Marsch is certainly building an exciting squad at Elland Road, especially after the additions of Maximilian Wober and Georginio Rutter, but now the pressure is on for the American to deliver another season of Premier League football.

Their results in the coming week will determine that ambition, and hoping McKennie is the final piece in the jigsaw for the Whites to start clicking once again.
