Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie speaks to Jesse Marsch and Tyler Adams as he accepts Leeds United proposal
Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has reportedly spoken to Leeds United duo Jesse Marsch and Tyler Adams ahead of Elland Road move.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the Old Lady are open to cashing in on him but not at a cut-price deal.
Fabrizio Romano reported on 25 January that the United States international has already accepted Leeds’ contract proposal.
Via Twitter, Jacobs wrote, “Weston McKennie is happy to join #LUFC and has spoken to Jesse Marsch and Tyler Adams. Juventus open to a late window deal, but not at a cut price. Club deny they’ll be forced to offload players following their 15-point deduction, an expected response given they are appealing.”
All set to go?
It seems like McKennie wanted to check in once with Adams if it was the right move and the Leeds midfielder surely is going to welcome him.
Marc Roca has had a topsy turvy time at Elland Road and signing McKennie will give Marsch more options in the middle of the park.
He can play him in a three and then move Brenden Aaronson out wide or ask McKennie and Adams to form an all American double pivot.
It remains to be seen if Leeds can now agree on a fee with Juventus and get the move over the line as different options will be discussed.
There were reports earlier of it perhaps being a loan-to-buy deal too and that’s something that would suit the Whites.
However, given Juventus’ financial predicament, they may look to demand a decent sum upfront and then the rest in instalments.
