Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie closes in on Premier League transfer amid Leeds United talks

Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is reportedly closing in on a move to the Premier League amid links with Leeds United.

According to Sky Sports Italy [24 January], the United States international has given the green signal to a move to Elland Road.

Leeds have been in talks with Juventus to work out the financials as they’re keen on signing the 24-year-old this month.

Right fit

McKennie is known for his physicality, work ethic, and adaptability and he can also play as a centre-back in addition to being a defensive and box-to-box midfielder.

He possesses strong passing, vision, and ball-winning skills and would fit into this Leeds side perfectly.

In addition to his defensive abilities, he has also demonstrated a propensity for scoring goals, especially from set pieces and is regarded as one of the best players in the United States setup.

His relationship with Tyler Adams, both on and off the pitch will also also be paramount and make this an important transfer.

The duo have played together on youth teams and have known each other since they were teenagers.

They complement each other well since they have a strong understanding of one another on the field and frequently play in the same roles for the club.

They are regarded as leaders on the team and important players in the USMNT’s midfield and both of them work very well in the same playing eleven, as was seen at the World Cup.

In other Leeds United news, a journalist has shared if Leeds are set for a financial gain if Raphinha quits Barcelona in the January window amid links with Arsenal.
