Justin Thomas shares Leeds United advantage ahead of Norwich City play-off clash
Justin Thomas is excited he has a morning tee time at the PGA Championship on Thursday so he can watch Leeds United in their play-off semi-final second leg against Norwich, where he thinks playing at Elland Road will be an advantage.
Thomas joined fellow golf ace Justin Speith in investing in the Whites last summer, joining the 49ers Enterprises consortium following their takeover of the club.
Daniel Farke’s side played out a 0-0 stalemate at Carrow Road on Sunday 12 May, with the two Championship sides set to face up in the second leg at Elland Road on Thursday 16 May.
Speaking ahead of the clash, quoted by Leeds Live on Wednesday (15 May), Thomas said: “I’m very excited about my morning tee time on Thursday,” Thomas said. “That has worked out nicely for that game.
“My advice is very different than probably anything that would be useful or helpful to them, but I know I’ve really, really enjoyed learning a lot more about the sport.
“Billy Foster [Matt Fitzpatrick’s caddie], I think between him, Jordan and I, we’ve definitely become a lot closer over the last year, and he’s given us a lot of insight and knowledge in terms of Leeds and sending us videos from games.
“Right now I like the fact that they’re playing at Elland Road. I know that they’re a tough team to beat there, so I’m excited to watch.”
Can Leeds United pip Norwich City to the Championship play-off final?
Neither of the play-off semi-final first legs revealed anything about which teams would be meeting at Wembley Stadium for the final, with both matches finishing 0-0.
While Leeds welcome the Canaries to Elland Road on Thursday, Southampton will be taking on West Brom at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday 17 May, with many predicting a Leeds versus Saints final.
The Whites will need to defeat Norwich first, and recent history would suggest that Thomas’ excitement is warranted, with the club now unbeaten against Farke’s former side in five meetings.

Dan James is reportedly close to returning and could play a major role in the play-off semi-final. The Welshman provided the assist for Patrick Bamford’s winner in January.
Leeds will be hoping for more of the same as they aim to secure promotion back to the Premier League after facing relegation last season.
