Jurgen Klopp to oversee coaching at Leeds United after update today
Jurgen Klopp’s role with Red Bull will see him oversee coaching across the company’s multi-club network including Leeds United, according to Nick Ellerby
It was confirmed on Wednesday (9 October) that the former Liverpool manager would be taking on a new position with the Whites shareholders to become their global head of soccer [Florian Plettenberg].
While it is unclear just how much of an impact the German will have at Elland Road, or any other club for that matter, talkSPORT journalist Ellerby suggests the appointment could be a “boom” for the Whites.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday (9 October, 8:53) he said: “Jurgen Klopp just a few months after saying, full stop, can’t do it anymore, can’t do it anymore at Liverpool, taking a bit of time out and he was living in Mallorca this summer.
“But he’s now been appointed as the global head of soccer at Red Bull. He starts on 1 January, we understand it’s quite a long-term contract and he’ll basically be overseeing, and giving advice to all of their teams on things like coaching, playing philosophy and developing young talents.
“We know it includes RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, Bragantino and also Leeds, they own Leeds now so it could be a boom for Leeds United.”
How does Jurgen Klopp’s new job impact Leeds United?
It may be unclear just how much of a role Klopp will play at Leeds United, but you would imagine that any advice the former Liverpool manager can offer the Whites and Daniel Farke will be gratefully received at Elland Road.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss may not have ever managed in the Championship, but he won basically everything there was to win during his time at Anfield and being able to call upon that experience should only be a bonus.

Hopefully, Farke will have the opportunity to pick his brains on multiple different issues and maybe Klopp’s knowledge of player recruitment could also benefit Leeds when the January transfer window rolls around.
The agreement with Red Bull at Elland Road has certainly been met with some scepticism from pundits and fans alike, but it seems as though the company is doing what it can to help the Whites on and off of the pitch at this stage.
