Junior Firpo unsure what Daniel Farke will do as Leeds United squad admission made
Junior Firpo believes Leeds United have better squad depth this season than last which gives Daniel Farke decisions to make over his side in the future.
The Whites have struggled with injuries this season but still find themselves fighting for an automatic promotion place in the Championship.
After Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu suffered long-term injuries in the same week there was plenty of concern, but in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post (13 November), Firpo has discussed their returns.
He said: “I think one thing that for sure we have this year that we maybe didn’t have last season is depth in the squad. You can see two really important players for us (Ampadu and Gruev) got injured for a long time, and then Joe [Rothwell] and Ao [Tanaka] came to the team, and they are doing brilliant.
“You know, when the other two come back, I don’t know what’s gonna happen. The manager will have to decide, it’s his job. So it’s the same in the wingers. We have a good team, we have really good options. I think whoever plays is going to be ready.”
Junior Firpo shares Daniel Farke admission amid injury concerns at Leeds United
There have been plenty of injury issues that Farke has had to deal with already this season, despite bing just 15 games into the campaign.
This started with Dan James being ruled out, although the Welshman has returned in recent weeks.
Now he has made his return, another winger has been ruled out with Largie Ramazani now missing and on the road to recovery.
These issues have been manageable for the Whites but longer-term problems for Gruev and Ampadu were a lot and sparked the German manager into bringing Josuha Guilavogui in at Elland Road for additional cover.

With that being said, it will be interesting to see how the side is set up when the injured duo returns and how easy they find it to return to the starting XI.
Their qualities are undoubted but given the performances of Tanaka and Rothwell in recent weeks, it won’t be a straightforward decision for Farke.
