Junior Firpo shares Crysencio Summerville admission about Leeds United summer signing

Junior Firpo believes Largie Ramazani has been impressive for Leeds United after being given the “difficult” task of having to replace Crysencio Summerville.

The Championship Player of the Year departed for West Ham in the last transfer window with his output near impossible to replace.

Ramazani came in from Almeria and has had a positive start to life at Elland Road, which has clearly rubbed off well on his teammates.

While speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post (13 November), Firpo said: “I knew Largie before, and I knew what type of player he was.

“He has impressed me a lot, because when you first come to a new team, obviously to be the replacement of the best player of the year last season (Crysencio Summerville) it is kind of difficult.

“But I think he doesn’t feel the pressure like he has to replace someone. He just came here and started to shine as the player he is. I’ve found it really good to play with him.”

The left-back has been a consistent presence for the Whites in recent years with his spot in the team being all but locked down.

Last campaign, his partner on the left flank was Summerville and the pair formed a useful partnership with the Dutchman proving his worth for the Whites.

This so nearly helped fire Daniel Farke’s side to promotion but they came unstuck in a difficult day in the playoff final against Southampton at Wembley.

With his departure to the London Stadium confirmed in the summer window, Leeds needed a replacement and that was never going to be easy.

Despite not being a like-for-like fill-in, Ramazani has proved to be a useful asset, albeit his recent injury concerns have curtailed his progress.

This has seen him register three goals while grabbing an assist in just six Championship starts, a positive return in a new league.

It appears that a partnership with the summer arrival and Firpo is growing, and that will only be a boost to Farke moving forward.
