Junior Firpo sends message after Leeds United injury news today

Junior Firpo has sent a message to Leeds United fans after he left the pitch with a new injury in the 2-0 win against Derby County.

The 28-year-old celebrated his 100th appearance for the Whites on Saturday [7 December] as goals courtesy of Joe Rodon and Max Wober secured the three points at Elland Road.

However, Firpo was removed after 20 minutes and is now confirmed to miss the clash against Middlesbrough with a hamstring issue, since taking to X to share a message.

He said: “100 appearances with this great club, not the best way to celebrate it coming off with an injury but will be back soon and stronger. We keep marching on together.”

Junior Firpo will be a massive loss for Leeds United

Daniel Farke will now have a selection dilemma at Leeds heading into the clash against Middlesbrough with yet another injury setback for Firpo.

The Dominican and Republic international has found himself in and out of the side all season – he has struggled for fitness and has not long returned from a three-match FA ban for headbutting Danny McNamara in the 1-0 loss against Millwall.

Sam Byram deputised superbly on the left side of defence in Firpo’s enforced absence, but the Englishman also sustained an injury and was missing from the matchday squad on Saturday.

Wober, of course, had a dream impact off the bench in doubling the Whites’ advantage, with his strike putting the game to bed, but Farke will dearly miss Firpo’s attacking prowess in the clash against Middlesbrough on Tuesday [10 December].

Hopefully, this latest setback will not see the left-back on the sidelines for a sustained period; he is the undisputed choice when fit and will undoubtedly play a vital role for Leeds heading into the festive period.
