Junior Firpo reaction shared while other Leeds United colleagues commiserated Illan Meslier

Junior Firpo stormed straight down the tunnel after Leeds United threw away a win against Sunderland thanks to an Illan Meslier howler, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The news outlet reported on its online edition [5 October] that the Dominican Republic international headed straight for the dressing rooms while goalkeeping coach Ed Wootten, and others, ran to Meslier to commiserate him after his costly error.

The Frenchman had a lapse in concentration in the last seconds at the Stadium of Light on Friday (4 October) as he conceded a 97th minute leveller.

The equaliser was awarded as a Firpo own goal and, after scoring to make it 2-1, the 28-year-old was seemingly left unimpressed with the Whites’ number one.

Junior Firpo upset after Illan Meslier Leeds United mistake v Sunderland

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody that the former Barcelona man has a winning mentality and was not happy about the error made by his keeper.

The situation will have only been made worse for the left-back after he was awarded an own goal to throw away all three points.

His frustrations have been echoed by every Leeds fan who can’t quite believe what Meslier did in what looked like such a simple moment.

Their frustrations won’t be helped by their goalkeeper laughing and joking with the Sunderland manager, Regis Le Bris, after the full-time whistle.

Firpo stormed down the tunnel, wanting to be on his own and rejecting any comforts from his teammates or staff as he did so.

There was plenty of positivity around the performance against the Black Cats until that point, turning the game around to so nearly take all three points.

Meslier made an error but there is hope that Firpo won’t let his anger take over him and cause tensions in the dressing room.
