Junior Firpo messages Joel Piroe after season first at Leeds United vs Norwich

Leeds United progressed to the next round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Norwich at Elland Road, with former player Junior Firpo seemingly watching on.

With it being Championship opposition, Daniel Farke was able to field plenty of his fringe players, with Joel Piroe one of those to get a run-out on Sunday.

The Dutchman played 90 minutes for the Whites, where he managed to get himself on the scoresheet to round off the afternoon, which puts them one win from Wembley again.

Piroe scored the final goal of the game, and it also marked his first of the season. Now, former teammate Firpo has issued the 26-year-old a message after Leeds’ win against Norwich.

What did Junior Firpo say to Joel Piroe after his first Leeds goal this season?

Piroe and Firpo know each other quite well, with the Dutch striker being the defender’s sixth most-played-with teammate. At Leeds, they played 65 games together.

Despite the Dominican Republic international now plying his trade in Spain, it is no surprise that he is keeping up to date with his former club and teammates.

The Leeds number 10 was handed a rare start this campaign under Farke, marking just his fifth in all competitions with his first goal of the season.

After scoring, Piroe took to Instagram, where he shared an array of photos from Leeds’ FA Cup victory.

Firpo can then be seen in the comments section, where he simply replied with a bullseye emoji, reacting to Piroe’s goal.

Overall, Piroe’s performance for Leeds against Norwich was strong, and he will be hoping it could be the start of a run of more minutes.

Piroe may have scored his final Leeds goal – here’s why

Piroe’s goal on Sunday may have been his last in the Whites shirt, with his future under Farke very much up in the air.

The 26-year-old is contracted at Elland Road until 2027, with this summer likely the final opportunity for the 49ers to get money from his sale.

The Dutchman will also understandably be frustrated with his lack of minutes, and that could see him look to move elsewhere.

Although he was impressive against the Canaries, in truth, that is unlikely to change his situation under Farke.

Right now, he is not trusted to start in the Premier League and with survival still yet to be confirmed, the German is unlikely to turn to those he infrequently plays.

Additionally, while the FA Cup has presented him with a chance to play, with Leeds in the quarter-finals and one game away from Wembley, Farke could go with a strong lineup for the rest of the competition.

It will all depend on who Leeds draw later on Monday, with Port Vale most people’s choice.
