Junior Firpo commits 'a lot of years' to his Leeds United future

Junior Firpo has says that he is ‘happy’ at Leeds United, committing his long-term future to the club.

The defender joined the Whites in the summer for a fee of £12.8million after suffering a ‘difficult’ time in Spain with Barcelona.

The Dominican Republic international and his family have settled to life well in England.

“The family is really good,” Firpo said as per Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Helpfully, my wife loves Leeds and my kids enjoy it too because they love all the big parks and all the places that we can visit.

“I think we live in a good city, we are really happy here and I think Leeds gave me the happiness again because in Barcelona it was a difficult time.

“We are really happy, we are enjoying our time a lot and we expect to be here for a lot of years and enjoying it with all the fans and all the people here. They deserve it.”

Real talent

The quality Firpo has is clear to see. Barcelona didn’t sign any old player and if his relationship with then-manager Ronald Koeman had been better, he might still be with the Catalonian giants.

Thankfully for the Whites, it didn’t, and they now have a real star on their hands.

He is a great option for Marcelo Bielsa with his versatility. The left-back by trade has recently spoken on his ability to play centre back which is a huge boost as Leeds look to make their squad more robust.

Despite his Catalonian past, Firpo seems very settled at Elland Road, a great environment for him to thrive and develop further as a player.

Let us hope the situation remains as calm as it currently is with the defender moved on from Barca due to him being a bad influence in the dressing room.

Bielsa will not stand for any of that no matter how good you are so hopefully the pair can maintain a good working relationship.
